Disaster recovery hosting in an audited enterprise data center
A dedicated recovery environment for your critical systems, mirrored and ready to fail over, hosted within a SOC 1 and SOC 2 audited facility. Bring your own licenses and equipment. We manage the environment around the clock and answer for it.
A recovery site that’s ready before you need it
Winmill provides dedicated disaster recovery environments, mirrored to your production systems and ready to fail over. You run your own licensed software and place your own equipment in our racks, and we provide the physical infrastructure, around-the-clock monitoring, and hands-on support when you need it.
Monitoring runs 24/7 across system health, availability, and bandwidth, backed by staffed support. When something needs attention, we’ve usually seen it before you have.
Every disaster recovery environment includes
- A dedicated environment, not shared infrastructure, with room for your own equipment and licenses.
- Redundant power, network, and cooling with no single point of failure.
- 24/7 automated monitoring, backed by staffed support around the clock.
Audited, tested, and verifiable
Compliance isn’t a page on our website. It’s how the facility runs: independent audits, recurring third-party penetration testing, and formal risk assessments every year, overseen by CISSP and CISA certified security leadership. Winmill has run its own infrastructure for thirty years, longer than most cloud providers have existed.
The facility’s controls
The facility is SOC 1 and SOC 2 audited and ISO 27001 certified, staffed around the clock, with layered physical access controls and fully redundant power, cooling, and network. Those controls surround your equipment every hour it sits in the rack.
Your controls stay yours
A dedicated environment means your own security stack, your own access model, and your own incident response, with nothing shared and nothing co-mingled. Winmill provides the monitored physical infrastructure beneath it.
The same facility runs Winmill’s own software
Winmill’s infrastructure isn’t idle rack space waiting for a disaster. It runs eMembership, Winmill’s own software as a service (SaaS) platform for benefit funds and labor organizations, processing member records, contributions, and claims every day. Your recovery environment lives in the same audited facility, watched by the same engineers.
Disaster recovery with Winmill fits if you want
- A dedicated recovery environment mirrored to your production systems.
- A facility audited to the standards your auditors ask about.
- Failover that’s documented and tested, not assumed.
Winmill runs our disaster recovery environment. But more importantly, they serve as our trusted advisor for anything related to our infrastructure.
Disaster recovery hosting questions
Does Winmill own the data center?
The facility itself is run by a major data center provider under contract with Winmill. Your dedicated recovery environment runs in Winmill’s space inside that SOC 1 and SOC 2 audited facility, with our team providing the monitoring and hands-on support.
What certifications and audits does the facility have?
The facility is SOC 1 (SSAE 18) and SOC 2 audited and ISO 27001 certified. Those attestations belong to the facility and cover the physical and operational controls around your equipment.
Can we use our own equipment and licenses?
Yes. Disaster recovery environments at Winmill are dedicated, not shared. You run your own licensed software and place your own equipment in our racks. You manage your environment, and we provide the physical infrastructure, monitoring, and hands-on support when you need them.
How do backups work in a disaster recovery environment?
Your recovery environment is typically the destination for your own backups and replication. Winmill does not back up the environment for you, so you keep full control of your own backup and replication tooling.
What happens if hardware fails?
Facility power, cooling, and network connectivity are redundant, backed by generators and UPS systems. For the equipment you place in the environment, our team provides hands-on support when hardware needs attention.
Does Winmill offer general application hosting?
No. Winmill’s infrastructure runs eMembership, our own software as a service platform, and dedicated disaster recovery environments for clients. For new application workloads, we design and manage cloud environments on Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web Services, and Google Cloud instead.
How fast could you fail over today?
Tell us what you’re running and the recovery time you need, and we’ll walk you through what a mirrored environment at Winmill looks like. We respond within one business day.
