The Risks of Delaying: What EOL Means

Once Windows 10 enters EOL:

• No more security updates or patches—leaving your systems exposed to viruses, ransomware, and evolving vulnerabilities.
• No technical support or assistance—you’ll have no recourse from Microsoft for troubleshooting or governance.
• Software and application degradation—even if systems continue functioning, they become increasingly unstable and incompatible.

Transition Options: Upgrade, Extend, or Rework?

Upgrade to Windows 11

• Free upgrade for eligible devices—check via Settings > Windows Update.

Extended Security Updates (ESU)

Microsoft offers a one-year ESU extension, pushing support to October 13, 2026. However, enrollment options add on fees of $30 per device.

Specialized LTSC Channel

For mission-critical or long-life use cases (e.g., ATMs, medical systems), Windows 10 IoT Enterprise LTSC 2021 can receive updates until January 13, 2032—though it’s not intended for general enterprise use and requires volume licensing.
