Report: Cloud can help improve IT efficiency

There are many good reasons to pursue an IT policy geared toward maximum efficiency. Some companies do so out of a desire to reduce expenses, while others are concerned about environmental responsibility and energy consumption.

Regardless of the motivation, cloud computing and SaaS are widely seen as tools that can help to increase IT efficiency greatly.

According to a recent Simply Business report, businesses stand to benefit in a number of ways by adopting cloud computing.

One benefit is scalability. Prior to the advent of the cloud, businesses needed to invest considerable resources in ensuring their IT infrastructure was sufficient for potential expansions. The cloud renders that unnecessary. In the event that a company needs more storage capacity or a greater number of user accounts, it can scale their services up or down quickly and easily.

Another advantage of SaaS is its quick deployability, the report said. Unlike traditional software, cloud-based solutions do not need to be installed. As such, users can be accessing new applications in a very short period of time.

Given the increasing popularity of the cloud, it is unsurprising that the cloud computing market is growing. According to a recent Axios study, 28 percent of companies have already adopted a cloud computing strategy.
