This Fund provides pension and health benefits to over 80,000 television and radio artists. The Fund’s systems maintain a wealth of highly sensitive information, including participant earnings and health history. HIPAA regulations, as well as The Fund’s own stringent privacy standards, mandate that these systems be secured at the highest level.
The Fund operates in both New York and California, and each coast needs access to the same data. Adding to the challenge is the fact that the Fund is a non-profit organization, and therefore must also maintain strict fiscal prudence. When the volumes of data being shared between offices made it clear that a permanent, highly-secure solution was necessary, the Fund turned to WinMill Software.
WinMill first reviewed the Fund’s business processes and systems infrastructure. Our recommendation was a strategic redesign and segmentation of the Fund LAN and WAN. The new design would allow the Fund to more effectively manage security by zone, with the option to add or expand zones as needed. A WinMill CISSP-certified security specialist, working closely with senior network staff, implemented this redesign in short order. Utilizing existing servers to minimize additional cost, the network was reconfigured off-hours without any business down-time. Once completed, the new configuration was thoroughly documented to ensure that the staff maintaining the network now and in the future had a full understanding of what had been done.
As a final step, WinMill performed a rigorous vulnerability test of the new network to confirm that there was no exposure to an internal or external security breach. These results were also documented.
WinMill helped secure the Fund’s networks so that they could focus on securing benefits for their members. When you want to know that your network is really secure, shouldn’t you turn to WinMill Software?
