Challenge

This mobile telecommunications company needed an enterprise solution for project management and governance. They also needed a solution for resource management and capacity planning.

Solution

WinMill Software worked with CA to implement Clarity Demand Management, Project Management, Time Tracking, Financials, and Resource Planning. Clarity is now being used by Enterprise IT, Human Resources, Finance, and Enterprise Planning.

Highlights

Clarity had originally been installed as a single instance with different partitions for different business units. The system proved impractical to maintain because each business unit used its own standards and processes. From an overall business perspective, there was still limited consistency and few advantages gained from the tool.

WinMill joined CA as a part of a fresh-start initiative. This time, Clarity was implemented for Enterprise IT only, with a focus on building consistent yet flexible business processes that could be adopted across the organization. The first phase was a success, and the project began to gain traction. The project team then used design sessions and prototyping to introduce Clarity to new business units. Rather than trying to replicate existing processes in Clarity, the team helped the business units redesign those processes to establish enterprise consistency, as well as to ensure the processes could be supported by Clarity.

Today the system boasts 90% compliance on Timesheets, a single source for Resource Capacity data, and consistent reporting data across business units. Perhaps the most telling sign of success, however, is the queue of business units now lining up for Clarity!
